Honorable Mention
Wise's pastel painting, Turquoise was awarded an Honorable Mention in the Art League's October All-Media Membership Show.

The juror for this exhibition was Marlene Rothacker who serves as Senior Exhibition and Marketing Manager for International Arts & Artists. She has worked with The Field Museum, Chicago and the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service, Washington, DC.


Silver Medal of Honor for Pastel Silver Medal of Honor for Pastel

Sunset at Difficult Run was awarded Silver Medal of Honor for Pastel at the Audubon Artists' 65th Annual Exhibition in New York City. The juror for selection was artist, Daniel E. Greene. The jury of Awards was: Susan Teller, The Susan Teller Gallery, NYC; Michael Cagno, Executive Director, The Noyes Museum of Art, NJ; and Raymond J. Steiner, Editor, The Art Times Journal.

Honorable Mention, Special Prize for Pastel

The painting Sunset at Difficult Run was awarded Honorable Mention, Special Prize for Pastel at "Near and Beyond" The International Landscape Show 2007. The exhibition hangs August 8 through September 3, 2007 at the Art League Gallery located in the Torpedo Factory.

The show consists of 121 impressive works of art that were selected from 748 entries. The exhibition was juried by Ted Cooper, President and Owner of Adams Davidson Galleries. Mr. Cooper says, "Extraordinary" of Wise's painting, Sunset at Difficult Run.

Carol Bruce Pastel Award Carol Bruce Pastel Award

Juror, Clifford T. Chieffo awarded Wise's pastel painting, Birch the 2007 Carol Bruce Pastel Award because it “is an in your face tree trunk, and we all know you are not supposed to put it in the middle of the page, but with deft handling the tree trunk succeeds in the composition. If you look at it long enough it takes on an anthropomorphic characteristic. There’s a living quality.”

Clifford T. Chieffo is Professor of Art in the Department of Art, Music, & Theatre at Georgetown University. He is also the Curator, Emeritus, of the University Collection at Georgetown University. Chieffo graduated from Columbia University with an M.A. in Art. He has written several books including Silkscreen as Fine Art and The Contemporary Oil Painter’s Handbook.
